Mark Beesley: We were a joy to watch

Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley has praised the display of his side after they returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Belper Town. 

Captain Josh Amis struck early on his return to the starting XI, before Dec Walker fired home his first goal in Yellows colours just four minutes into the second half. 

Harry Middleton pulled one back for the visitors from the penalty spot, but Bohan Dixon held his nerve from 12 yards out late in the day to secure all three points.

“It’s probably a continuous pattern of the last few weeks,” Beesley said post-match. “Their goalkeeper was easily their Man of the Match. In the first half especially, he made some unbelievable saves. 

“We managed to get the win, and that’s what we needed to keep that belief and momentum.

“The lads understand that we’re doing everything right, without putting the ball in the net.

“The way that we played at times, it was a joy to watch. The movement and the rotation, we carved them open time and time again.”

Beesley was also quick to single out the performances of Walker and Luke Duffy, who proved to be a constant thorn in the side of the Nailers throughout. 

“Dec is a really good lad and a good professional to have around the place,” he said.

“We’ve been saying to him, ‘your chance will come, just be patient’, and to be fair to him he has. 

“We’ve definitely seen a change in Luke this season too. He looks a goal threat constantly, and he’s that missing piece.

“That’s the difference in Luke Duffy. He’s always had that skill and he gets people off their seats, but to add goals and assists to his name is something that we speak to him all the time about.”
