Mark Beesley: We didn’t do enough

Warrington Town boss Mark Beesley admits his side didn’t deserve anything from their 2-1 defeat to Whitby Town on Tuesday evening.

Goals in either half from Bradley Fewster and Aaron Haswell prevented the Yellows from extending their four-match winning run in the league.

Connor Woods had pulled a goal back shortly after half-time, but it wasn’t enough as playing conditions proved to be difficult on a windy night on the Yorkshire Coast.

“It was a difficult night to play football for both teams, but they coped with it better than us,” Beesley said post-match.

“They played with the wind really well. They had willing runners and they bombarded us.

“We had to settle things down at half-time, and I thought we started the second half really well.

“We scored a good goal, and at that point you think there’s only one winner.

“But conceding 30 seconds later is really, really poor and we never recovered. We didn’t stop the cross even though there were two of us there. It was way too easy to get the ball in the box.

“If they don’t score, we’re in the ascendency, but goals change games.

“We gave a really poor goal away and we didn’t really recover until the last 10 minutes. It gave them a big lift and I don’t think we did enough.”

The Yellows will now embark on four successive home games, starting with Marske United’s trip to Cantilever Park on Saturday 12 November.
