Mark Beesley: We controlled from start to finish

Warrington Town boss Mark Beesley has praised his players for putting in a “90 minute performance” during Saturday’s 4-0 win away at Liversedge.

Having struggled for consistency in recent weeks, the Yellows ran out emphatic winners at the Clayborn Ground as they climbed to 11th in the Northern Premier League table.

Connor Woods netted his first goal for the club, while Luke Duffy grabbed a double and Josh Amis scored for the second successive Saturday after recovering from illness.

“We put a 90 minute performance together,” Beesley said post-match. “We’ve controlled the game from start to finish.

“They had a good shape about them in the first half and it took a bit of time to break them down, but we got that goal, which is a great time to score, just before half-time.

“In the second half, they had a go at us for 10 minutes or so, but once we got the second goal it was game over.”

Much of the Yellows’ threat in the final third came via of the lively attacking trio of Duffy, Woods and Eddie Clarke

All three had a hand in goals, and Beesley quick to praise the application of his squad as they bounced back quickly from their midweek home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity

“As everyone knows, we’re light [in the final third] at the moment,” he said.

“I thought the three of them were a threat and worked really hard for the team, first and foremost. That gives us a platform [to build from].”

The club are back in action on Tuesday night, away at Lancaster City, and Beesley has challenged his players to build on their encouraging display in West Yorkshire.

“Performance-wise, we’ve probably been at a good level, but results-wise we’ve been inconsistent.

“We’ve got to change that, but you’ve got to play well to get those results.”
