Lewis Coulton: We can beat anyone in this league

Warrington Town left-back Lewis Coulton is confident the Yellows have what it takes to kick on following Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Cheshire rivals Nantwich Town.

A first half own-goal and second half strike from Jordan Buckley, his 18th of the season in all competitions, saw Mark Beesley’s side climb back into the play-off places with a determined win over the Dabbers.

Next up on Saturday is a trip to Hyde United, before another midweek test on Tuesday 15 February, away at fellow promotion contenders FC United of Manchester.

Victory over Nantwich, coupled with recent draws against Whitby Town and Grantham Town, mean the Yellows are now three games unbeaten in the league.

Coulton, who joined on loan from Championship side Preston North End last month, says he and the rest of the squad must continue to build confidence after securing three points on Tuesday.

“I think it was more relief [against Nantwich] because we know we’re a good team,” the 18-year-old said.

“We know we can beat anyone in this league, but it’s just about doing it. The result is exactly what we needed.

“Considering we’ve drawn the past two games that I’ve been there, I think it was about time that we got the win.

“Against Grantham, it was a slip in the last minute, and in the dressing room after the game, everyone was quite sore inside.

“In the Cheshire derby, we needed to bounce back, get back on track and get those three points. It was probably the best time to get a win on the board. Now it’s time to push on.”

Town’s recent unbeaten run has coincided with Coulton’s introduction to the starting line-up, and he admits he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Cantilever Park so far.

“I’m loving it, to be honest,” he said. “The lads have been brilliant with me since I stepped through the door. Hopefully I can just kick on with the team.

“It’s all about getting as many points on the board, taking every game as it comes and hopefully by the end of the season we can be in the play-off positions or maybe even higher.”
