Josh Seary: We need to put Whitby defeat behind us

Warrington Town defender Josh Seary has urged his side to forget about their midweek 2-1 defeat to Whitby Town and instead focus on their upcoming sequence of home matches. 

In difficult conditions on the Yorkshire Coast, goals in either half from Bradley Fewster and Aaron Haswell ended the Yellows’ run of four successive league wins. 

Despite the result, Mark Beesley’s side still sit fourth in the Northern Premier League table, five points off current league leaders Hyde United.

“We knew before the game that Whitby would be a tough place to go,” Seary said.

“The weather wasn’t the best, the pitch wasn’t the best, so we couldn’t really get playing how we wanted to.

“It was a tough game, but we’ve been on a good run so we can’t get too low. 

“We’ve got to put that result behind us because we’ve been playing well and winning games.

“We’re still high on confidence and full of belief that we can bounce back again. We just need to get ourselves ready for Saturday.”

Next up, Marske United visit Cantilever Park in the first of four consecutive fixtures on home soil. 

Seary admits the Yellows cannot afford to take much notice of the Seasiders’ recent form, given the unpredictable nature of the division.

“You can’t go into too much detail about the form of each team,” he said. 

“It doesn’t matter whether teams have won or lost – we all know that anyone can beat anyone, especially in this league. 

“If we focus on ourselves and keep playing the way we have been, we have full confidence in our ability to get the job done.”
