New Warrington Town midfielder Jak McCourt feels the quality of the squad will show once new signings settle, and is confident that they can turn performances into wins sooner rather than later.
Last week, the 29-year-old joined the Yellows on a three-month loan from Ashton United.
McCourt’s first few days in a Warrington Town shirt have been hectic, having featured twice already in the middle of the park against Rushall Olympic and Scarborough Athletic.
While admitting new signings can take time to gel, McCourt is certain that an upturn in results will come as the Yellows look to build on successive, hard-fought performances on the road when Chester visit the Cal.Delivery Stadium this weekend.
Ahead of Saturday's game, he said: “We’ve got a good balance in terms of experience and younger lads. The longer we play together, the easier it’ll become.
“I know we have a good team here. The league position may not show it, but we should be higher and we will be higher.
“We got ourselves into good positions on Tuesday night. We just need to be more creative and positive with our end product.”
Given McCourt’s experience in both the professional and semi-professional game, he knows how to settle into new clubs at short notice.
The 29-year-old has played over 100 games in the Football League for the likes of Chesterfield, Northampton Town, Swindon Town and Barnsley.
Prior to joining Ashton United, he spent time in the National League North with Buxton and also enjoyed a brief stint at Town’s near neighbours Rylands.
McCourt is keen to demonstrate his leadership qualities in the middle of the park, as he prepares for his home debut in front of a bumper crowd this weekend.
“Every game is the same for me. Whether it’s Scarborough or Chester, they’re all massive.
“We’ll go into Saturday and take it like we’ve taken the Scarborough game. We’ll be wanting the three points, and we’ll do everything in our power to get them.”
