Warrington Town are delighted to announce the permanent signing of former Tranmere Rovers defender/midfielder Evan Gumbs.
Gumbs, 23, is no stranger to Cantilever Park having had three spells on loan at the club, making 34 appearances.
He was released by the EFL League Two club earlier this week, and the management team were quick to make their move.
Assistant manager, Mark Beesley, said: “We know Evan as a lad and anyone who has ever worked with him speaks highly of his attitude and his commitment to football.
“He’s just been unlucky with injuries – he’s had two bad ones in as many years which is difficult to take for a young footballer.
“Knowing Evan as we do, we’re hoping he’ll get his match fitness back and he’ll be flying.
“We’re lucky to have him. I think if he’d have played for two years, I don’t think he would be playing at our level.
“His versatility is key for us – he can play in a number of positions. He knows the league, he’s ambitious and he’s exactly the type we’ve been looking at.”
Gumbs becomes the fifth new addition to the Yellows squad for the 2020/21 season – following Callum Grogan (Radcliffe), Charlie Munro (Ashton Athletic), Craig Carney (Clitheroe) and Joel Amado (Trafford).
SEASON TICKETS are now on sale to watch Evan and the rest of the squad from the season start on September 19. Click here for more information.
