[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Evan Gumbs insists momentum is starting to build again for Warrington Town ahead of Saturday’s trip to fellow promotion hopefuls Buxton in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Since a 2-0 home defeat to Scarborough Athletic on December 18, the Yellows have recorded back-to-back league wins, scoring eight times and conceding just twice.
One of those games, a 4-1 victory over play-off chasing Bamber Bridge, saw Gumbs net his first goal for the club; a close-range finish after Josh Amis’ angled header had struck the post.

Despite being knocked out of the Cheshire Senior Cup last week, Town are in a healthy position on the league front, sitting just six points off league leaders Matlock Town.
Their tilt for the top has been helped by the fine form of Gumbs, who has formed a solid partnership in the heart of defence alongside the experienced Mark Roberts.
Ahead of Saturday’s game against third-placed Buxton, the versatile 24-year-old admits that the Yellows are starting to demonstrate their character and quality.
“We were disappointed after the defeat to Scarborough. We know that we are much better than what we showed on the day,” he said.
“We’ve got a great dressing room, and the lads know we’re capable of winning games, and we’ll look to show that again [on Saturday].”

Gumbs has impressed at Cantilever Park since returning from a brief loan stint at Runcorn Linnets.
The move saw the former Tranmere Rovers man regain fitness following a knee injury, and he went on to make nine appearances for the club in all competitions before returning to the Yellows.
Gumbs admits that he is now ready to kick on ahead of a busy and potentially crucial month of league fixtures.
“My loan at Linnets went really well,” he said. “I managed to get a good run of games under my belt.
“I’m definitely feeling fitter after it and I’m grateful that Linnets were able to give me those games to get back up to speed.”
