Warrington Town have reluctantly agreed to sell midfielder Luke Duffy to Macclesfield FC for an undisclosed fee.
The club was approached with an initial offer last weekend, which it turned down, and had no intention or reason to sell a key member of the first team squad.
However, despite efforts to persuade him to stay, the player made it clear that he wished to leave the club to take up a more lucrative offer with the Northern Premier League club.
With that in mind, the club felt it was in its best interests to negotiate the best deal possible rather than having a potentially unhappy player disrupting a pivotal season in the club’s history.

Duffy joined the Yellows from Lower Breck in September 2020, going on to make 92 appearances and scoring 17 goals, the last of which came in the club’s first ever game in National League North, a 4-0 win away at Southport.
He scored 10 goals last season, including two in the play-off semi-final win over Matlock Town on the way to promotion.
The club wishes Duffy all the best for the future.
