Warrington Town produced an impressive display ahead of the new season, beating National League North side AFC Telford United 3-1 at Cantilever Park.
Against a team managed by former boss Paul Carden, the Yellows found their rhythm in front of goal and proved to be worthy winners on home soil.
They raced into a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes as Mitch Duggan opened the scoring after capitalising on a mistake by former Town keeper Luke Pilling before rolling the ball into an empty net.

A thunderous Mikey Howard strike doubled the advantage, and even though Nathan Blissett pulled one back not long after, the hosts restored their two-goal advantage before half-time when Isaac Buckley-Ricketts’ lovely glancing header from Sean Williams’ cross found the far corner.
Manager Mark Beesley admitted post-match that it was good to see his frontline firing on all cylinders, having failed to record a pre-season goal on home soil prior to Saturday’s friendly.
“At times we’ve needed to be more ruthless, and in the first half we looked a threat,” he said. “The movement and pace, little bits and pieces that we’ve been working on, have come out today. It was good to see.

“I’m not going to get carried away. It’s pre-season and we’ve still got a bit to go. There are things we need to work on and get better at, but it’s good to see the lads looking fit.
“We’ve worked on things in training, about moving and creating space for each other.
“At times you’re going to give it away and concede goals, but we believe that if we keep doing it, the rewards will outweigh the risks.”
Tuesday’s scheduled pre-season friendly away at 1874 Northwich has been cancelled due to low player availability as a result of Covid-19, knocks and niggles.
This means the Yellows will next be in action on Saturday 30 July, away at Buxton.
