Ackroyd arrives as Douglas extends deal

Midfielder Joe Ackroyd has joined Warrington Town from Northern Premier League side Guiseley.

Ackroyd, 22, played in National League North for Buxton last season and the season before, while on loan from Barnsley.

He left Barnsley in the summer after 12 years at the club, and linked up with Guiseley, where he has made 33 appearances this term.

Ackroyd has been described as a tough tackling, creative midfielder, with high energy, great character and leadership qualities.

After making his Barnsley debut in the FA Cup in 2022, he had a successful loan spell in Czechia for MFK Vyskov.

His signing has been confirmed ahead of the Yellows’ trip to Alfreton Town at the weekend.

Meanwhile, defender Hamish Douglas has extended his loan deal at the Cal.Delivery Stadium until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has made 27 appearances since arriving from Rotherham United in October.

He joins Lee Williams, the young forward from Stockport County, in signing loan terms for the rest of the campaign.
