Hannigan bids farewell

Warrington Town are sad to announce the departure of defender Tom Hannigan.

Hannigan, 36, was subject of a seven-day approach to the club from Northern Premier League West Division side Bootle at the beginning of September and expressed an interest in joining, before ultimately deciding to remain with the Yellows.

However, the centre-back has now informed the club of his decision to take up a deal with Bootle, enabling him to play closer to home.

The 2022 summer signing from Altrincham formed a superb defensive partnership with Evan Gumbs in his first season, helping the club to win promotion to the National League North.

He has been a consistent, top performer for the Yellows during his two years or so at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, and would have been due to make his 100th appearance in the next game against Chorley.

In the promotion-winning season, he started in almost every game, making 47 appearances and scoring five goals.

Hannigan followed that up with a further 45 appearances last season, 42 of which came in the National League North, and he scored what would turn out to be his last goal for the club in the 6-0 win at Buxton.

This season, he has played seven times, re-uniting with Gumbs at centre-back.

Everyone at Warrington Town wishes Tom all the best for the future.
