Fans get their wish as striker Sithole signs for the Yellows

Striker Gez Sithole has signed for Warrington Town after impressing during the pre-season programme.

Sithole, 21, arrives at the Cal.Delivery Stadium following two years at Bolton Wanderers, during which he spent time on loan in the National League with Altrincham and Chorley.

He has featured as a trialist in pre-season, scoring a fine goal in the home friendly against Salford City.

The Yellows’ new number 18 was presented to fans at the season launch event at the Village Hotel on Wednesday night.

Sithole said: “I’ve found it great. I’ve gelled well with the lads and they’ve made me feel welcome so it’s been easy for me.

“During pre-season, we’ve had good runs and not just me the whole team has done well. Bar we didn’t get the result we wanted at times, I feel like we did well with our performance so hopefully that can bode well going in to Saturday.

“It’s a very competitive league, last year it was tight in terms of play-offs, hopefully we can do what we need to do and get there.

“As a striker, you love scoring goals, so that’s the goal.”

Hailing from Kent, Sithole came through the ranks at Gillingham and played 16 times for them in the Football League as a winger or striker.

At the end of last season, he featured four times for Chorley in National League North.

Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley said: “Gez gives us pace and gives us that other option at number nine. He can play wide as well, so we’ve got options up there now with Matty Grivosti suspended for the first three games.

“We’ve got to be patient with Gez – he’s come out of the full-time environment, which always takes time for young lads to get used to in terms of training at night and changing the way they do things.

“He’s direct and hopefully he’ll score some goals for us.”

Sithole will be sponsored this season by Golf Clubs 4 Cash and Ben Fletcher.
