They include two defenders with Football League experience in Shaun Beeley and Liam Goulding, former York City centre back Jack Higgins and midfielder Joe Mwasile.

Beeley, 28, came through the youth ranks at Oldham and played more than 100 games for Fleetwood Town in their rise up the football pyramid.

Spells at Bury and Morecambe followed, before he spent last season in the National League with Barrow, making 34 appearances.

A right back, Beeley made a solitary appearance for England C, the national team that represents England at non-league level, back in 2012.

Goulding, 21, was revealed by manager Paul Carden at last weekend’s supporters Q&A session.

He spent last season at Wealdstone in National League South, having previously come through the system at Accrington Stanley.

Comfortable across the back four, Goulding has spent time on loan at Marine, Ashton United, Witton Albion and Belper Town in the past.

Another centre-back, Higgins, hit the headlines last summer when he quit his teaching job in Burnley to take up a full-time contract at National League side York.

The 25-year-old played 15 times for them before departing for Southport on loan, where he finished the season.

Completing the quartet of new faces is Mwasile, a midfielder who played for local rivals Nantwich Town last year.

Born in Zambia, he started his career in the Football League with Morecambe, and has subsequently had spells in non-league with Workington, Altrincham, Barrow, Burscough, Salford City and Marine.

The signings take Carden’s confirmed squad number up to 13.
