Fourth game without a win for the Yellows Fourth game without a win for the Yellows

WARRINGTON Town’s fading title hopes took a major blow as they were beaten 2-1 away at Nantwich Town.

Since reducing the deficit at the top of the table behind Altrincham to one point, the Yellows have faltered and now find themselves eight points adrift after the leaders beat Lancaster this afternoon.

Harry Clayton’s penalty on the stroke of half time proved to be the match winner and send Warrington to a fourth game without a win.

The Yellows had taken the lead on 28 minutes when Sean Williams scored a penalty of his own, after Jamie McDonald had been brought down in the box.

Nantwich got themselves back on level terms on 38 minutes when Toby Mullarkey equalised and hit the front from the spot after Steve Jones was fouled by Luke Pilling.

Warrington huffed and puffed in the second half but couldn’t find an equaliser, and Nantwich even managed to survive the last eight minutes with 10 men after substitute Sam Wakefield was sent off.

The two sides meet again in the reverse fixture at Cantilever Park on Tuesday night.
